Man I don't know how swoozie does it, I think he's one of the only content creators I still watch from my teenage years. I think its the fact that he uploads so little that you never get the chance to grow out of his content, either way he's doing sumn right

Here's the thing though, I LOVE being other people's supporting character. I love being the mentor, the friend, the love interest, w/e. I enjoy helping and seeing other people succeed. Realizing I'm a side character in someone else's 'Hero's Journey' is incredibly fulfilling to me. Don't get me wrong, there are times when I will totally take on that main character role for myself, but those moments don't last or mean as much as the time spent being someone else's 'guy in the chair'. It's scary to be in the spotlight, but it's great to feel needed and to see the aid you've given others raise them up to their own success.

Your social intelligence is top tier. I wish I could have seen your videos sooner. I got wrecked by being homeschooled and put into private programs until pretty much highschool. People didn't know what to do with me, I was genuinely innocent and sincere. It was like open season. This reminds me of my oldest sister’s 16th birthday. For the first time ever, we got to go bowling, which so happened to be during a rocky relationship with my dad. My dad paid for the game and promised that my sisters and I could go to the arcade afterwards.
Throughout the start of the game, my dad was acting cocky and egotistical like always; but every time it was his turn, he either got a gutter ball, or hit a total of two pins. Definitely nothing like his bowling champion dad, who was present as well.
Meanwhile my sisters and I kept hitting at least eight pins max, while my mom who had a broken thumb kept getting strikes. When it was my turn again, I threw the ball, only to see the lights ahead of our lane turn off and my ball hit the closing gate. My dad comes back from the front of the building and says “we’re going home”, cutting the game off only an hour in and taking us home. We never got to even go to the arcade like he promised, and my sister refuses to speak about her 16th birthday anymore.

I agree with that closing statement 100%. The way I see it, we're all just the main characters of our own shows, in this big streaming service we call life, and every show falls under a unique genre. Keep other people in mind, and don't expect everybody to think the same way you do.

I will say that whenever someone has described me as giving "Main Character Energy" it was because of the way i dressed, my mannerisms, and my overLl percieved confidence. I don't really like using it as way to to describe myself because i feel like the implication is that im suggesting everyone is a side character. But as a mindset and almost a philosophy, i think its definitely beneficial. I try to be the main character when it comes living my life the way i live, and not dim down on my dreams and goals because I'm deserving of it. However there are times that you have to accept that you are going to be the side character. And id much rather be the supportive side character to my friends than be the antagonist who only serves as an obstacle to their goals because of my own self centeredness. Also main character doesn't always mean center of attention or most successful. Its about taking the Reigns of your story and knowing you have control over what direction your life goes and deciding what kind of story you want to tell.

I love the idea of having "main character energy", like this is the sort of thing I can only WISH to wield! On the flip side, the reason for this mindset of "NPCs" comes from just how *BLANK* most peoples' profiles are. Like, if what we put online is supposed to give insight to what we're like as human beings, allegedly with hopes and dreams...but all of that is [null] [undefined] [error] and [nonexistent], this is where that stigma originates from. And I've been on dating sites enough to have seen more examples than I can bother to count!
And as someone with the soul of an action hero, you're RIGHT, I do love it when I have a good sidekick! (Or maybe that's just me being a Gemini. And I refuse to apologize because I have got a spine.)
But that's the thing about showbiz: not everybody can be the main character. It's like competitions in general, there are winners, and there are losers. We can not decide which hand we're dealt - whether we get the "Glorious Star" card or "The Void" card, but we can decide how we play that hand. Imagine if there really are people so far above the average peasants, they can totally get away with acting like that...because it's the truth.
Let me riposte your closing thoughts: respect is NOT a right. It has to be EARNED! And you don't earn it by nonstop disappointing people with your blank stare, your blank "about me" sections, and failure to answer basic questions. Yes, I agree, live life like the movies (if possible in any realistic-ISH way)...which is why it's so disappointing that all these blanks are so *common* that we now call people "NPCs" in the streets. Life is like a box of dud ammo. You expect some intense fire skirmishes, but all you get is a whole lotta nada.

I'm a type 1. Absolutely love hearing things about myself and talking about myself, even if it's negative.
I cannot stand type 2's. I am very self-conscious about being inconvenient to others and when I see someone else doing it, I'm in shock and angry at how inconsiderate they are.

I feel like the whole, "be yourself" mentality has seeped in a little too dip in our society. To the point of selfishness, narcissism, and overall lack of support for others. People are too mixed up in their own, "main quest" where they will refuse to help anyone with the excuse that, "they will just figure it out themselves." We aren't built like that. I'm what some would classify as a loner but even I understand the intrinsic value of a sense of "togetherness." It's goddamn isolating sometimes when everyone around you could care less about your problems and care only about themselves. Oftentimes when I am in a public space where everyone is just on their phone ignoring each other; I get the strong desire for everyone to just talk to one another and get along. I know I'm not the only one who has that feeling.

Sister: "Psh. I'm not even a side character. I'm an NPC. I do the same routine every day, only interact if people come up to me, and offer the same repeating canned dialogue every time."

Everyone is the main character in their own story, but that doesn’t mean be the antagonist in other’s story.
I’d like to think my character is one that likes to help but I’ve entered my “villain arc” since people want to be rude. I still am kind, to friends. How I act is all based on how you treat me, that applies to friends as well.

3:24 i used to live my life like that. I would enjoy every part of it, the great and the horrible, everything else and everything in between, but then the pandemic hit. I had severe depression. I started really struggling with anxiety, ocd, and adhd. I would overthink EVERYTHING and put pressure on myself to the point where not even the “good times” felt happy anymore. I’m really scared if it would be gone forever (the thought of that scares me). I’ve made so much progress though, and I know I’m almost there, and I think I need a last big push. Aquarius here. Was a bit of a main character back in the day. Then found Jesus. Now I help build others up to be true shooting stars in their movies, hoping they can inspire others to wish, have hope, and run the race for that everlasting oscar or emmy.

I ran into a type 2 main character yesterday. We were standing in a long line for snax and this girl wanted my friend Brandon to walk her to the bathroom. Which I get bc we were in an unfamiliar place and they know each other, but I don’t really know her. However, the bathroom is like 100 yards away and Brandon is on crutches with a torn Achilles and foot a brace. He’s explaining to her that his leg is aching and that he’s tired but she’s not getting it. So I finally jumped in and reexplained it more harshly and found someone else to walk her😂.

I see myself as a main character in mine, but I'm also aware around anyone else, I'm just a side character. I don't have that kind of personality that shines out.
How I see it, for example, I'm more of a 'fluttershy' personality but when on my own see myself more as a 'rainbow dash' personality. Alone, I see myself as awesome, love me for me. But around anyone else, I immediately get shy, bashful and quiet.
Though no matter whether I'm alone or with people, I'm just a naturally emotional person.
The only person I didn't feel like a secondary character around was my father. Though it was more because it didn't feel like he accepted me for at all who I am personality wise. Said he remembered when he was emotional, that I'll grow out of it, refuses to accept I have a fear of driving and don't feel comfortable doing so, etc. That was the only time I was with people and felt still like my 'rainbow dash' main character self.

I’ve recently come to realize that instead of having that main character energy, I am instead the sidekick character in many peoples lives. They can be in the midst of living their journey, and I’ve been there to bring balance along the way. Many of my close friends are very serious people, but can still appreciate the balance of some comic relief. Being able to stand beside my friends and help them experience their own main character storylines in the best way possible is fulfilling enough for me

Damn Swoozie, you be preaching hard truth. For many years, I feel like I've been mostly in side character energy. I've never put out main character energy (aka doing things for myself, treating myself better) because I was just so used to side character energy. I didn't think I deserved things and had worth, and I'm still working on that to this day. I have been getting better at having more main character energy by treating myself right, believing I have worth, and of course, making sure I treat people with side character energy with respect and empathy. But honestly, I'm so used to being the side character that being a main character feels weird to me. I'm not one for the spotlight, don't have a lot of friends, and mostly a person observing from the sidelines. Your video really puts it into perspective on how to view people when it comes to "main character energy" and "side character energy". I will agree with the last part of the video, you are the main character in your story but don't abuse that main character energy. You focus too much in that main character energy and disrespect your supporting characters, you'll start to become the main villian in someone else's story since everyone is their own main character.
